Our History

Following in their father’s footsteps Chris and Graham Stanley established Stanley Brothers Tippers in 1969 after working as haulage owner drivers sub contracted to the plastics industry. Their father before them was a wagon driver in the coal industry.

The brothers identified a niche in the market and expanded their business with the purchase of additional trucks to satisfy the needs of their clients.

In 1970 the brothers bought a plot of land in Great Harwood and gained planning permission for both a yard and a garage. The brothers then acquired land adjoining the site and built The Great Harwood Reclamation Centre, the first purpose built recycling centre of its kind in Lancashire.

The brothers then expanded their fleet of vehicles and complimented their fleet of tippers with plant equipment that they could hire out to their existing customer base.

Today the company is proud to operate a 20 strong fleet of tipper vehicles, JCB’s, excavators, roadsweepers and bulldozers and employ over 50 permenant time staff.
